About

"Save Lives. Spay or Neuter Your Cats"

Operation Topcat was formed in 1995 by a few residents of Topsail Island, North Carolina who were working as individuals to help stray and feral cats in the area. The group was incorporated in July 1996 and has 501 (c)(3) non-profit stratus from the IRS.

Our organization reccomends and uses the "trap/neuter/vaccinate/return (TNVR)" strategy. Homeless cats that are not tame are spayed or neutered, have their left ear "tipped" for easy identification as having been spayed or neutered and are returned to their colony for continued care and feeding by their caretaker. Those cats or kittens that are tame enough for adoption are fostered and adopted out through our program. We currently have cats available for adoption at the Petsmart on Western Boulevard in Jacksonville, NC.

All Topcats are fully vetted. This means they have each tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV. They have all been spayed or neutered. They have all received their distempers, rabies, free of fleas and worms, and micro chipped.

If you care currently feeding and caring for a colony and need help, please contact us. You must be able to provide continued care for the colony you are inquiring about. Together we can humanely help the cats and reduce the over population of cats in our area.

Topcats assistance is available to people who want to help the stray or feral cats in the Topsail, Sneads Ferry, Holly Ridge, Hampstead, Jacksonville, Richlands, and surrounding areas in a humane and caring way. Operation Topcat does not have a shelter. We solely operate through foster homes. Help depends on available space at a foster home and the monetary donations we currently have as we rely 100% on donations to do our work. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a Topcat foster. We are unable to relocate feral colonies.

We are working to help as many stray and feral cats through spay/neuter, adoption, and education as we can. We rely 100% on donations and all monies go to help the stray and feral cats.

Topcat encourages all pet owners to spay or neuter their own pets, not just to reduce the over population, but also to reduce the pets possible exposure to diseases or injuries.

The "What do you do"?

We work to reduce the population of colony cats by TNVR and colony management. We work to adopt friendlies to families through our in-home foster program. All foster cats and kittens are fully vetted.

The "Why do you do that"?

We strive to provide education and assistance to those caring for colonies of their own when our resources allow. An educated care taker is able to provide a higher quality of life to cats and kittens already existing in colonies and reduce the number of cats in those colonies through TNVR.

We strive to accept as many friendly foster cats and kittens into our in-home foster program as our resources will allow. We assist the community through requests for help, pulling cats/kittens from various shelters, and pulling friendlies from colonies. All foster cats are fully vetted before adoption to further promote a decline in population.
